Salt / Scent House

The proposal is for a new house on a site that slopes steeply from the street to a cliff at the ocean edge. The design evolves around a room to the ocean (‘salty’) and a room to the garden (‘scented.’) The ocean room spills out onto a grassy terrace – a generous outdoor living space overlooking the sea. The garden room opens into courtyard – wind protected and lush. The house will be made of the material of the site. Its defining walls and parts of the floor will be face brick, colour matched to the sandstone cliffs.
