Take 7
‘Take 7' is one in the ‘Take' series of Australian Institute of Architects sponsored books. Our contribution to the 2008 publication was a proposal to re-design of the suburban street in the context of a denser suburb. The aim was to provide the amenity once offered by the large private suburban garden, in the public domain. Traffic speed is reduced, the roadway minimised and underground services consolidated, to allow the street to be transformed into a linear park. The vision includes food producing front gardens, street furniture and children's street games.
